Mrs. McConaty Rites at Decorah

Mrs. L.G. McConaty passed away at her home at 401 Williams St., Decorah, Saturday evening June 12, after a period of failing health. Amanda Jane Jones was born on a farm a few miles northwest of Waukon on April 14, 1866. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Elam B. Jones, pioneer residents of Allamakee county and was the last surviving member of a family of 13 children. After her marriage on October 18, 1899 to Leonard G. McConaty, they lived on a farm east of Waukon for a few years. About 1909 the family moved to Decorah where they have since made their home. Mrs. McConaty was preceded in death by her husband who passed away Sept. 23, 1935. She is survived by her son and daughter, Donald and Clara, of Decorah. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, June 15 at 2:00 p.m. at the Congregational church of which she was a member for many years. Burial was in the family lot at Phelps cemetery.
