Minnie M. Olson
Minnie M. Olson, 93, mother of Mrs. Leslie (Lillian) Jahnke of Postville, died Jan. 8 at the Good Samaritan Center in Waukon.
Services were at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Waukon, conducted by Rev. Lynn Groe. Burial was in Old West Paint Creek Lutheran Cemetery.
The pallbearers were David Jahnke, Arnie Onsager, Jerry Goeke, Jim Goeke, Leo May, Jr., John Nelson, Dan Olson, Brad Jahnke, Ronald Onsager, Mark Goeke, Don Olson, Larry Burt, Robert Nelson and Joe Nelson. Arrangements were made by Martin Brothers Funeral Home, Waukon.
Mrs. Olson was born Dec. 26, 1892, daughter of Steffen and Mary (Lihagen) Steffenson. In January 1913 she married Peter A. Olson at the Old West Paint Creek Lutheran Church.
The couple had 10 children. Her husband died March 6, 1950.
She was educated in local schools. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and belonged to several church groups there.
Survivors include 7 children: Mrs. Allen (Ella Mae) Goeke, Arnold Olson, Mrs. Arnold (Josephine) Onsager, all of Waukon; Mrs. Leslie (Lillian) Jahnke of Postville; Norma May of Corvallis, Oregon; Mrs. Wayne (Mildred) Burt of Sioux City, and Mrs. Mavis Nelson of Lansing.
Also surviving are 33 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, 1 brother, Nennor Steffenson of Waukon; 2 sisters, Mabel Berg of Milltown, WI and Anna Steffenson of Minneapolis.
She was preceded in death by 3 of children in infancy; 2 grandchildren, a great grandchild and 5 brothers and sisters: Carl, Selmer, Melvin, Sina and Clara.
