Rachel D. King

Rachel D. King, 73, of Waukon, died Monday, September 7, 2009 at Franciscan Skemp Healthcare in LaCrosse, WI. Funeral services were held Friday, September 11 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Waukon, with Rev. Lynn G. Groe officiating. Burial was held in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery, Luana.

Rachel Delores King was born March 8, 1936 in Riceville, the daughter of August and Stella (Wiepert) Milhan. She attended country school in the Riceville area and farmed with her parents. December 11, 1954 she married Arnold L. King in Waukon. They farmed together in the Waukon area for many years, and in August of 1992 they moved to Luana, where she was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Luana.

Rachel moved to Waukon in April of 2009, where she was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Waukon. Rachel enjoyed playing cards, walking, gardening, watching the Chicago Cubs on television and spending time with her family and friends.

Survivors include her children, Lou Price of McGregor, Arnold King of West Union, Herman (Hilda) King of Marquette, Edna Adam of Wauzeka, WI, Linda (Scott) Brainard of Luana, Gary King of Black River Falls, WI and Randy (Sarah) King of La Crosse, WI; 18 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Arnold, who died in 2003; a son, Kevin King; and two brothers, Bill and Ronnie Milhan.

Honorary casketbearers were Marty Adam, Jr., Nate Ihde, Harley Jones and Mark Speies. Casketbearers were Cody and Jason King, Eli Shaw, Brandon Looby, Neal Wikner and Tim Price.
