Arnold S. Olson

Arnold S. Olson, 73, died February 28, at his home in Waukon.

Funeral services were held Thursday, March 3, 1:30 p.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church with Rev. Lynn Groe officiating. Burial was in Mt. Olivet Cemetery with military rites. Martin's Funeral Service, Waukon, was in charge of arrangements.

Arnold was born October 25, 1914 in Allamakee County to parents Peter A. Olson and Minnie M. Steffenson Olson. He received his education in rural Allamakee County Schools and was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church.

He served in the U. S. Army Air Corps in 1943-1944 and was an American Legion member.

He married Ruth Long on December 24, 1942 in St. Joseph's church parsonage, Freeport, Illinois. He was a lifetime area resident.

Preceding him in death were 2 brothers, and one sister, all in infancy.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth; children: Mrs. Clarence (Mary) Holley of St. Louis; Mrs. Tom (Carol) Schulte; Mrs. Don (Pat) Ewing of Peosta, Iowa; Mrs. Dick (Jean) Lewey of Waukon; Nancy Olson of Wilmette, Illinois; Don Olson of Waukon and Daniel Olson of Winter Park, Florida; sixteen grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. Brothers and Sisters: Mrs. Mavis Nelson of Lansing; Mrs. Norma May of Corvallis, Oregon; Mrs. Wayne (Mildred) Burt of Sioux City; Mrs. Arnold (Josephine) Onsager of Waukon; Mrs. Allen (Ella Mae) Goeke of Waukon; Mrs. Leslie (Lillian) Jahnke of Postville.

Pallbearers were Brad Jahnke, Ron Onsager, Mark Goeke, Mike Rose, Scott Schulte and Doug Ewing.
