Funeral services for Russell Harris, 54, Manchester, were held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 13, 1984 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Manchester, with burial at St. Mary's cemetery. The Rev. John Walsh officiated.
Russell Dean Harris was born Dec. 4, 1929 in Postville, the son of Obert and Clara (Klein) Harris. He died Jan. 10, 1984 at his home in Manchester.
He received his education at the Postville schools; Iowa State Teachers College, Cedar Falls; and cosmetology school. He operated a beauty salon in Postville for several years before moving to Manchester. At the time of his death he operated several beauty salons, including the Vanity Beauty Shop in Manchester.
He married his wife, Anna Jean, Sept. 16, 1950 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Manchester. He was a member of the Catholic church and the St. Mary's Knights of Columbus and was a former Jaycee member.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Leo and George.
Surviving are his wife; one son, Thomas, Storm Lake; two daughters, Mrs. David (Julie) Johnson, Cedar Rapids, and Mrs. Russell (Jane) Jones, Manchester; four grandchildren; four brothers, Milo, Lynxville, WI; Virgil, Bloomingdale, IL; Donald, Bishop, CA; and Robert, Postville; and five sisters, Gertrude Bluck and Hazel Peary, Preston, MN; Ruth Burnham, Sparta, WI; Lulu Kruse, Luana, and Beulah Schultz, Postville.
