Jarin DeWayne Janey

Jarin DeWayne Janey, of Shellsburg, lost his life in an accident just two minutes from his home on Thursday, July 30, 2009. He was 18.

A Funeral Mass was held Monday, August 3, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Urbana with Father David Ambrosy officiating. Arrangements were made by Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Center Point. A memorial fund has been established in Jarin's memory.

Jarin was born July 28, 1991, in Cedar Rapids, the son of DeWayne Janey of Cedar Rapids and Gloria (Kohrs) Janey of Shellsburg. He graduated from Center Point-Urbana High School in 2009. Jarin previously worked for Northbrook Care Center and was currently employed at McDonalds.

Jarin had a strong hidden faith. He loved his family and friends and spending time with them as well as his music. As number 43, he enjoyed racing moto/cross and didn't enjoy when his brother beat him. Jarin was very unique and smart and had a lot to offer the world.

Survivors include his parents, DeWayne and Gloria; sisters, Cara Kohrs of Oklahoma, Dawn (Matt) Wernett of Vinton, Amber (Brandon) Streets of Anamosa and Katlyn Janey of Marion; brothers, Hunter (Jessica) Campbell of Van Home and Dylan Janey of Shellsburg; many aunts, uncles and cousins; niece and fairy godchild, Zoey Kohrs; and nephews, Adam, Jacob, Matthew, James, J.D., Keegan, Karson, Hudson and Landon.
