Virgil Clay Noack

Virgil Clay Noack, 60, of 407 Bonita Blvd., Cedar Falls, Iowa, died Wednesday, December 17, 1997 of a sudden heart attack, in his office on the University of Northern Iowa Campus in Cedar Falls.

Virgil was born March 21, 1937, in Postville, Iowa, the son of Clay Patrick and Helma Ida (Brandenburg) Noack. On June 6, 1959, he was united in marriage to Marlene G. McNeilus in Marble Rock, Iowa. He received a bachelor's degree from the University of Northern Iowa in 1959, and a master's degree in 1964. He taught at New Hartford Community School from 1959 to 1963, then in Spirit Lake until 1967 before joining the UNI faculty where he was an assistant professor in the sociology, anthropology and criminology department. He taught and coordinator the Junior League's "Know Your Community" class for more than a decade.

The funeral service for Virgil Noack was held Monday, December 22, 1997 at 10:00 a.m. in Richard Funeral Home, Cedar Falls, Iowa.

Virgil is survived by his wife of Cedar Falls, Iowa; a son and his wife, Steven P. and Cindy Noack of Iowa City, Iowa; one daughter and her husband, Susan J. and Carter Larson of Chattanooga, Tennessee; one grandson, Michael Clay Noack of Iowa City, Iowa; and one sister, Marjorie Schultz of Postville, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother James in infancy.

Casket bearers were David Harkin, Bret Wagoner, Bob Claus, Ron Roberts, Wayne Wagoner, Wade Wagoner, Tom Hill and Bob Kramer.
