Death of M.F. Donovan
News of the death of Michael F. Donovan, which took place last Friday at his home on Silver Creek, north of Waukon, brother sorrow to many old friends. He had been in poor health about two years and the end came as stated.
Michael F. Donovan was born in Ireland about 79 years ago, and came to this country and county at a youthful age, and, with the exception of a short time spent in South Dakota, it has since been his home. At Lycurgus, forty-seven years ago, he was married to Ellen Sullivan. The fruit of this union was six daughters and seven sons all of whom, with the mother, survive to mourn the loss of a loving husband and kind father.

The children are Mrs. Henry Haas, Mrs. M. Devitt, Mrs. James Howes, Mrs. Leo Bresnahan, Mrs. Frank, Gavin, Mrs. Andrew Bresnahan, Charles, George, Thomas all of this county and James, William, Jerry and David of St. Paul. All of the children were present at the funeral, six of the sons serving as pall bearers. He is also survived by twenty grandchildren.

The deceased was an honest, industrious, God-serving man, a good citizen and a true friend. For over forty hears the writer has known and esteemed him and with his ho9st of other friends we wish to extend our heartfelt sympathy to the mourning wife, daughters and sons.

The funeral was held Sunday morning, the procession proceeding from the home to St. Mary’s church, Lycurgus where services were held Rev. Father McNamara officiating and burial took place in Lycurgus cemetery.
