Arch B. Coates was born June 11, 1879, and passed away at his home, the Stone House Inn, Tuesday, May 10, 1932, aged 52 years and 11 months.

On August 17, 1897, he was united in marriage to Miss Lillie Mae Gilson of near Postville, and to this union five children were born, two boys and three girls. Lawrence, aged 17, and an infant daughter preceded him in death.

Those left to mourn his passing are his wife, his son, Larry E. Coates, of Gold Creek, Montana; two daughters, Mrs. Ethel M. VanderWeg at home and Mrs. Fay Hooker of Crocker, Missouri; five grandchildren; a half-brother, LaRue Webster, of Luana; his aged mother, Mrs. Ann Willis, who makes her home with him, and a multitude of friends.

He was a kind and loving husband and father, and will be sadly missed.

Funeral services were held from the U. B. church at Forest Mills at two o'clock on Friday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Harry Dirks. Interment was made in the Smithfield cemetery.

The pall bearers were Mort Deering, Ralph Bachtell, Henry Lawson, Ed Ewing, Ed Colvin and Ira Smith.
