Stuart J. Schultz

Stuart J. Schultz, of Postville, passed away Sunday, April 5, 2009, at Palmer Lutheran Health Center, West Union, following a short illness. He was 51.

Funeral Services were held on Wednesday, April 8, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville. The Rev. Steve Brackett officiated. Burial followed in the Postville Cemetery. Schutte-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Postville was in charge of arrangements.

Stuart was born on October 18, 1957, Postville, to Grant and Patricia (Herwig) Schultz. He was baptized on December 1, 1957, and confirmed on April 29, 1973, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville. Stuart graduated from Postville High School in 1976.

Stuart was united in marriage to Cindy Duwe on June 21, 1980, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville. They were the proud parents of two children. Stuart worked for a time at Stan Martins Golden Dawn Farms. For sixteen years, he worked for Postville Farmers Cooperative and most recently for Alliant Energy in Mason City and Decorah.

Stuart was an avid sports fan of Iowa Hawkeye Wrestling, Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears. He also enjoyed golfing, fishing and mushroom hunting. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends. He will be greatly missed by the many people who knew him.

Stuart was preceded in death by his father, Grant Schultz; father-in-law, LeRoy Duwe; and his paternal and maternal grandparents.

Survivors include his wife, Cindy Schultz, Postville; two children, Carli Schultz, North Liberty, and Brady Schultz, Postville; mother, Pat Schultz Cline (Harry), Elgin; mother-in-law, Dorothy Duwe Suckow (Ray), Postville; four brothers, Bradley (Paulette) Schultz, Grimes, Larry (Dianne) Schultz, Postville, G. Wyatt (Kirsten) Schultz, Cedar Rapids, and Daryl (Dolly) Schultz, Postville; sisters-in-law, Barb Duwe Peterson (Clint), Elkader, and Sandy (Dennis) Koenig, Postville; brother-in-law, Joe (Jolene) Duwe, Postville; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
