Fremont H. Meyer

Fremont H. Meyer, 88, of New Albin died Monday, March 2, 2009 at Thornton Manor, Lansing. Funeral services were held Friday, March 6 at St. John's United Church of Christ (Wheatland Church), rural New Albin, with Rev. Paul Burgess officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

He was born August 19, 1920 in Allamakee County to George and Ella (Reinke) Meyer. On August 27, 1946, he married Evelyn Wiemerslage in Eitzen, MN. Together they farmed in Iowa Township for many years.

Survivors include his wife of over 62 years, Evelyn of Lansing; one son, Dean (Sue) Meyer of New Albin; two daughters, Joyce (Lambert) Staggemeyer of Eitzen, MN, and Linda (Greg Schlenker) Meyer of Eagle Lake, MN; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; one brother, Harold (Eunice) Meyer of Eitzen, MN; and one brother-in-law, Paul Breeser of Lansing.

Fremont was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Ronald Meyer; one granddaughter, Anne Staggemeyer; one great-grandchild, Sabrina Schuttemeier; one sister, Esther Breeser; and one brother, Raymond Meyer.

Jandt-Fredrickson Funeral Home, Caledonia, MN was in charge of arrangements.
