Joey Dennis Porterfield

Funeral services for Joey Porterfield, 22, were held Saturday, Nov. 10, 1984 at 1:30 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville. The Rev. Julius Peterson officiated assisted by the Rev. David H. Palm. Schutte Funeral service, Postville, was in charge of arrangement. Burial was in the Postville Cemetery.

Joey Dennis Porterfield, son of Dyrl "Junior" and Sharon "Pat" (Meyer) Porterfield, was born Oct. 4, 1962 at the Community Memorial Hospital, Postville. He died there Wednesday, Nov. 7.

He was baptized Oct. 29, 1962 at St. Paul Lutheran Church and confirmed there on May 7, 1978. He was a member of St. Paul's.

He graduated from Postville Community Schools in 1981. He had been active in sports, lettering in football three years and wrestling four years. During his high school years he had been employed by Gerald and Bill Steva and Dennis Turner on their farms.

After graduation Joey enrolled in the Industrial Electrician program at Northeast Iowa Technical Institute at Calmar. Before he completed the first year, he became ill.

He is preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Vern Meyer and paternal grandparents, Dyrl and Margaret Porterfield.

Surviving are his parents, his fiancee, LuAnn Geno, Postville, a brother, Brad, at home, two sisters, Jaci (Mrs. Craig Burns), Lansing and Becky, at home, and his maternal grandmother and step grandfather, Harlan and Beulah Schultz, Postville.
