Wilhemine Marie Friedericke Powell

Funeral rites were conducted Friday, December 24, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran church, Postville, for Mrs. John Powell who died December 22, 1971, at the Good Samaritan Center, Postville. The Rev. Norman Ullestad officiated.

Wilhemine Marie Friedericke Krogmann, daughter of John Jurgen Carl Krogmann and Mary Caroline Johanna Schroeder, was born in Mecklenburg, Germany, June 11, 1877. She came to America at the age of three in 1881. She was confirmed in St. Paul Lutheran church, Postville, May 22, 1891 by Rev. J. Gass.

She received her education in the Iverson school five miles south of Postville.

On June 27, 1911, she was united in marriage to John Powell, who survives. For the past 60 years the couple made their home in Postville where they observed their 60th wedding anniversary in June, 1971.

Mrs. Powell was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter Luella; two brothers, Charles and William; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Ohloff, Mrs. Frieda Foels and Mrs. Mattie Everts.

Burial was in the Postville cemetery.
