Henry John Paulsen

Funeral services for Henry J. Paulsen were held Friday, Feb. 25, 1983 at 1:30 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville. Rev. Julius L. Peterson officiated. The Schutte Funeral Service of Postville was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Postville Cemetery.

Henry John Paulsen, son of Ernst and Alma (Funk) Paulsen was born Dec. 30, 1918 on a farm south of Luana. He died Feb. 22, 1983 at Community Memorial Hospital in Postville.

He was baptized Feb. 7, 1919 at the Lutheran Church in Luana and confirmed April 9, 1933 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville, where he was a member the rest of his life. He attended South Grove School. He enlisted in the U. S. Army March 26, 1941 and served during World War II.

Sept. 13, 1942 he was united in marriage to Velma Stancil. To this union two daughters and one son were born.

October 15, 1967 he was united in marriage to Dorothy (Schultz) Wolter in the Little Brown Church at Nashua, Iowa.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Ernst and Alma Paulsen.

After returning from the service he was employed by Falb's and International Harvester and from 1957 until his retirement, he was employed by Hygrade Food Products. He was also a member of the American Legion, Arthur Brandt Post 518 and a volunteer fireman for the Postville Fire Department.

Surviving besides his wife, Dorothy, is one son, John E. Paulsen of Lincoln, MO, two stepdaughters, Mrs. Jerry (Karen) Heins, Postville and Mrs. Nathan (Caryl) Heins, Luana; two sisters, Mrs. Lorenz (Hazel) Pape, Postville and Mrs. Eugene (Hilda) Horstman, Guttenberg; two brothers, Harvey, Elgin and Harold, Mesa, AZ and 13 grandchildren.
