Patricia Juvik-Woods

Patricia Ann Juvik-Woods died January 31, 2009 at her home in Benicia, CA from complications of syringomyelia, a disorder of the spinal cord.

Patricia was born July 2, 1949, and grew up on her parents' dairy farm in northeast Iowa. She was a graduate of Waukon High School in Waukon and received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Luther College in Decorah in 1971 and a Master of Arts degree from the University of Iowa in Iowa City in 1976.

Patricia was employed by the Iowa Department of Corrections as a correctional counselor, a parole officer and as assistant to the Director of Corrections. She also worked as district administrator for the Iowa Department of Social Services. In 1980 she moved to the San Francisco Bay Area and worked as a manager of contract administration for an engineering consulting company in San Francisco, CA. She finished her professional career at Avanti Corporation in the Silicon Valley in administration management.

Patricia was preceded in death by her father, Bertin Valdemar Juvik; her nephew, Darrel Richard Easley; her husband, Harry Woods; and her sister-in-law, Nancy Roth Juvik. She is survived by her mother, Winnifred Juvik of Benicia, CA; her sister, Judy (husband John) Walsh of Woodland Park, CO; her brother, Richard (partner Cheri Brenner) Juvik of Denver, CO; her sister, Mary (husband Jose Maria Gomes) Juvik of Napa, CA; her nephew, Kerry Easley of Phoenix, AZ; her step-daughter, Elizabeth Woods; and grandsons Chad Woods and Nicholas and Dominique Richardson. She is also survived by many, many dear friends whom she also considered as family.

Donations may be made in Patricia's name to the Animal Rescue Foundation (ARF), the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), an animal charity of choice, or Sutter VNA and Hospice.
