James Todd Weymiller

James T. Weymiller, 44, of Holmen, WI, formerly of Harpers Ferry, died Sunday, January 25, 2009 near Holmen, WI, following a snowmobile accident. Funeral services were held Friday, January 30 at United Methodist Church in Lansing, with Pastor Steve Hubbell officiating.

James Todd Weymiller was born February 19, 1964 in La Crosse, WI, the son of Franklin A. "Doc" and Jean Ann (Cooper) Weymiller. He was baptized and confirmed at the United Methodist Church in Lansing. James attended Waterville Elementary School, graduated from Waukon High School in 1982 and graduated from Iowa State University in Ames in 1986. He worked at Snow Mountains YMCA in Colorado.

After graduating from college he went to work for the Chicago Board of Trade before moving back to Waukon, where he opened his own brokerage of commodities. He continued a life of entrepreneurship in the commodity business. James spent the last twenty-plus years in the La Crosse, WI area. Technology was a big part of his life. He developed a business of worldwide trade, operating his own commodity brokerage, JW Trader.com. James currently was developing another business called Online Trading.com.

James was a member of the United Methodist Church in Lansing, a lifetime member of the Iowa State University Alumni Association, Wings in Wisconsin and Coulee Comet Snowmobile Club. He enjoyed boating, snowmobiling, weight lifting, playing softball, following NASCAR, deer hunting with his family, following his nephews' activities, and he was an avid Chicago Bears fan and Iowa State Cyclones fan.

Survivors include a special friend, Carrie Gueltzow of Holmen, WI and her children, Brandon and Tyler; his father and mother, Franklin "Doc"and Jean Ann Weymiller of Harpers Ferry; a son, Andrew of Craig, CO; a daughter, Brooke of Phoenix, AZ; two brothers, Steven (Chris) Weymiller of Harpers Ferry and David (Laure) Weymiller of New Albin; three sisters, Renee (Gary) Van Horn of Estes Park, CO, Anne (Kevin) Dykstra of Decorah, and Caroline O'Connor of Des Moines; his maternal grandmother, Muriel Cooper of Waukon; many nieces and nephews; and two great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Edwin R. Cooper; and his paternal grandparents, Frank C. and Mariam Weymiller.

Casketbearers were Eric, Ross, Frank and Marcus Weymiller, Daniel Dykstra, Chase, Luke and Peter Van Horn and David Reed Cooper.

James Weymiller, 44, of LaCrosse, WI, formerly of Harpers Ferry, died Sunday, January 25, 2009 in a snowmobile accident near Holmen, WI. Arrangements are pending at Martin Funeral Home of Waukon.

James was a 1982 graduate of Waukon High School and the son of Franklin "Doc" and Jean Ann Weymiller of Harpers Ferry.

Life of Harpers Ferry native claimed in snowmobile crash
Reports from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources indicate that a Sunday, January 25 snowmobile accident near Holmen, WI claimed the life of a former Harpers Ferry man. Preliminary reports indicate that James Weymiller, age 44, of La Crosse, WI lost control of the snowmobile he was operating on a curve and hit a tree along State Highway 35 at approximately 6 p.m. Weymiller was wearing a helmet, but died from internal injuries, according to a preliminary autopsy report.
