POSTVILLE—Funeral services for George B. Welzel, 64, who died at his home here Sunday following an illness of several months were held Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock in St. Paul's Lutheran church here. The Rev. Frederick B. Ludwig, pastor, officiated and burial was in the Postville cemetery.
Mr. Welzel was born May 14, 1878 in Clayton county and was married March 12, 1903, to Sophia Schultz in Postville. He was a well known farmer near here for many years and for the past several years has operated a service station here
Surviving are his wife, a sister, Mrs. Anna Staadt of Postville, six children, Roy and Betty Lou, Postville; Sgt. Harlan Welzel, Camp Hood, Texas; Mrs. Earl Glister, Castalia; Ruth, Cedar Rapids, and Paul, Elkader, and five grandchildren.
