News of the passing of Mr. Fred Weber at his home in Lansing township, Wednesday last, reached this city early that morning. He died at 1:15 a.m. after an illness of only five days. Mr. Weber suffered the loss of his right limb on account of gangrene, and on Saturday, July 19th, was taken suddenly ill from what was thought to be acute appendicitis, and passed away as above stated.

Thorsten, Herman and John. A daughter, Agnes, died in infancy. Two brothers, Henry and John, the latter of Denver, Colorado, and two sisters, Sister Mary Ann and Sister Donata of the Franciscan order, also survive.

Mr. Weber was a devout Catholic, a good husband and father and a kind neighbor and friend. He bore his sufferings with true Christian fortitude and was prepared to meet his maker and not afraid to die.

The funeral was held Friday morning at Immaculate Conception church at 9:30 o’clock and the large attendance testified to the esteem in which deceased and his estimable family are held. Msgr. Haxmier celebrated a mass of Requiem for the happy repose of his soul and interment took place in Gethsemane cemetery.

Out-of-town relatives in attendance at the funeral were: Mrs. Chas. Bublitz, niece, Dubuque; Mrs. Wm. Weber sister-in-law, Dubuque; John Liecht, nephew, Dubuque; Wm. Merrill, Dubuque and the Schwartzhoff families of Dorchester.
