Millard Wild

Millard F. Wild, 87, of Lansing died Thursday, October 30, 2008 at Franciscan Skemp Healthcare in LaCrosse, WI. Funeral services were held Tuesday, November 4 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Waukon, with Rev. Richard Iles officiating. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery, Waukon.

Millard Fillmore Wild was born January 26, 1921 in Waukon, the son of Gustave and Alvina Catherine (Verthein) Wild. He attended French Creek Country School in rural Lansing. Millard started farming when he was a young boy.

April 22, 1946 he married Jean Deloris Molitor in Caledonia, MN. They farmed in the French Creek and Mays Prairie areas for many years, where they raised dairy and beef cattle. Millard took great pride in his beef cattle. He was an accomplished carpenter, Millard and his brother, Bill, built the house and most of the out buildings on the farm. Jean died April 15, 2002.

February 11, 2006 he married Charlene L. Luckasson at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Millard was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church. He enjoyed playing cards, especially euchre, visiting with family and friends and telling stories.

Survivors include his wife, Charlene of Lansing; his children, George Wild of Lansing, Mildred (Robert) Allan of Gays Mills, WI, Katherine "Kathy" (William) Langreck of West Union, and Darlene (Robert) Ludeking of Decorah; 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lorna (Andy) Anderson of San Antonio, TX and Lucille Miller of Detroit, MI. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Jean; a son-in-law, Morris Snider; a sister, Irene Bulman; and two brothers, Kermit and William Wild.

Honorary casketbearers were Daniel, James and Mike Langreck, Clint and Corey Ludeking, Riley Wild, and Steve Yearous. Casketbearers were Wayne Weber, Joe Sweeney, Burton and Rick Wild, Richard Vonderohe and Rodney Luckasson.
