Hazel K. Voelz

Funeral services for Hazel K. Engelhardt Voelz were held Saturday, Jan. 30, 11 a.m. at Garden City United Methodist Church, Monona. Rev. Dean Shelly officiated. Burial was in Luana City Cemetery, Luana. Schultz's Funeral Home, Monona was in charge of services.

She was born March 12, 1896, in Hardin, Iowa, to parents Louis and Ann Wier Engelhardt. She was baptized Nov. 5, 1918 in the Methodist faith. She received her education in rural schools and Luana High School.

On March 1, 1940 Hazel married Carl Voelz at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. The couple lived on a farm near Luana for many years. She worked as a beautician and special nurse. She retired 10 years ago. In 1980 the couple moved into their home in Postville.

She died Wednesday, Jan. 27, 1988 at the Good Samaritan Home in Postville. She had been a resident there for 2 years. She was a member of Garden City United Methodist Church and Eastern Star.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Arno Schrader, who died in 1926; son, Louis and brother, Lyle Engelhardt.

Surviving is her husband, Carl; 2 sons, Ralph Schrader of Mesa, AZ and Bernard (Bud) Schrader of Postville; 8 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Jim Schrader, John Schrader, Frank Medberry, Dan Medberry, Jack Schrader and Bud Schrader.

Honorary pallbearers: Ivan Krueger, Harvey Landt, Carl Waters, Harley Moore, Donald Kregal and Eldon Kregel.
