Mrs. Ralston's Rites Monday

Funeral services were held Monday, Feb. 27 at 1:30 p.m. in Rossville Presbyterian Church for Phoena Ann Ralston, 71, of Franklin township of Allamakee county.

The Rev. William Tjaden officiated and burial was in Smithfield cemetery. Donald Deal, Lloyd Bechtel, Lester Fish, Ed White, Elmer Rush and Gerald Kurth were pallbearers. Martin Brothers was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Ralston, who had been in ill health for some time, died Feb. 23 at her home in Post township. She was born Phoena Ann Evans and was a daughter of Abraham and Ella Jane Brooks Evans. She was educated in the local schools and lived in Allamakee county all of her life.

Jan. 12, 1916 she married Earl Ralston in Postville. He survives, as do five daughters: Mrs. Milo (Beulah) Livingood, Postville; Mrs. George (Helen) Gelo, Waukon; Mrs. Rueben (Marjorie) Schutte, Castalia; Mrs. William (Roberta) Livingood, Castalia, and Mrs. Wilburt (Lucille) Topel of Milwaukee, Wis., and three sons, Gerald of Los Angeles, Calif.; Dale of Kansas City, Kansas, and Leon of Waukon. Twenty-two grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, a brother Will Evans of Waterloo, and a sister Mrs. Adeline Frink of Waukon, also survive. A son Curtis Arthur died in 1939 and three brothers, Carl, Arthur and Roy, and two sisters, Maud and Janie, also preceded her in death.
