HENRY GOTTLIEB SEIBERT

Funeral services for Henry Gottlieb Seibert were held Wednesday, May 7, 11:00 a.m. at Zalmona Presbyterian church of rural Waukon with Rev. Linda Baldwin officiating. Martin Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Burial was held at Zalmona Cemetery with graveside military rites by Waukon Veterans.

Henry Gottlieb Seibert was born November 24, 1916 in Ludlow Township of Allamakee county in rural Waukon, Iowa. His parents were Henry H. and Wilhelmina (Kugel) Seibert. He attended Ludlow elementary schools, Waukon High School, Waukon Jr. College and graduated from the University of Dubuque. He served in the Air Force during WW II. Henry lived in the Chicago area for a time where he taught school, coached basketball, worked in a Chrysler plant and owned and operated a construction business. Following that, he lived and farmed in the rural Dorchester area for many years.

Henry was a member of the Zalmona Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed sports (especially U of I football and basketball and Chicago Cubs baseball), fishing, playing cards, gardening and was an avid reader.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, John.

Surviving are sister-in-law, Norma Seibert, of Waukon; nephews, John Jr. and wife, Bev, Seibert, James and wife, Linda, Seibert, Robert and wife, Diane, Seibert, Howard and wife, Rhonda, Seibert, Kenneth and wife, Janet, Seibert, and Richard and wife, Elizabeth, Seibert; and nieces, Cheryl and husband, Michael Germaine, and JoAnn and husband, Larry Gelo.

Honorary casketbearers were David Flage, Victor Byrnes, Nyda Mae Rodman, Ralph Osterholz, Walter Winke and Benjamin Kruger. Casketbearers were John Jr., James, Howard, Richard and Scott Seibert, and also Shawn Gelo.
