Funeral Services Today for William F. Saam

William F. Saam, 84, passed away early Monday morning at the Lutheran Hospital in La Crosse, where he had been taken by ambulance Sunday evening after a fall in his yard at his home on the park. He was one of Lansing's oldest retired businessmen being actively engaged as a mortician and furniture dealer until he sold out in 1940. He later continued his insurance business at a down town office for some years and at his home until June 1st of the past summer.

He was born at Lansing May 9th, 1874 a son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Saam and one of several children. He was educated in the city schools and on September 8th, 1908 was married to Laura Johnson at St. Paul. they made their home in Lansing where for over fifty years he was in business and enjoyed the great privilege of celebrating their Golden Wedding anniversary only last fall. Beside his wife he is survived by two daughters. Miss Gretchen, of Birmingham, Mich., Miss Esther, of St. Mary's Hospital, Rochester, Minn., and Dr. Thomas, of Butte, Mont. Other immediate survivors include one brother, Karl and one sister Selma, both of Minneapolis and another brother. Theodore of Claremont, Calif. and three grandchildren. Beside his parents, one sister, Katherine and one brother, Dr. John preceded him in death. Mr. Saam was most courteous and accomodating in his association with the public and during those long years formed many acquaintances who will be sorry to learn of his death.

The remains were taken to his home last evening from the Burke Funeral Chapel and funeral services will be held at the German Presbyterian Church at two o'clock this afternoon with Rev. Kinzler officiating and saying the final prayers at the graveside in Oak Hill Cemetery where interment will be made in the family lot. Casket bearers chosen are John Thompson, Clem Riek, Ronald Manderscheid, Bill Johnson, Vincent Spinner and Harold Gaunitz all of his children and his brother and sister from Minneapolis are here for the services.
