Eva Elizabeth Anderson, 94, died Monday, April 21, 2003, at Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Rice Lake, Wisconsin.

Eva was born September 30, 1908, to Thomas and Christena (Schwartzhoff) Sires in Allamakee County, Iowa.

After completing eighth grade, she went to work in a licorice factory in Dubuque, Iowa, to help support the family.

At age 16 she attended beauty college in Dubuque, and for awhile she worked in Richland Center before moving to Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin, with her friend Muriel Bruchner, where they operated a shop.

On October 1, 1949, she married Carl Anderson in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. They moved to Gays Mills, Wisconsin, where they operated a grocery store.

In the early 1950s the couple moved back to Prairie du Chien where Eva owned and operated a beauty shop, The Cut N Curl until her retirement in 1976. After retirement Eva traveled to the Near East, Hawaii and Alaska. In 1997 she moved to Rice Lake to be near family.

She was a member of St. Joseph Parish in Rice Lake, and a long time member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Prairie du Chien. She was a member of the Prairie du Chien VFW auxiliary.

She is survived by one daughter, Crystal (Paul) Hagel of Hawthorne, Florida; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Jane Duenne of Fox Lake, Illinois; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl in 1962, her parents, five sisters and five brothers.

A mass of Christian Burial for Eva was held Saturday from St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rice Lake, Fr. Kevin Gordon officiating with burial to follow in Gays Mills on Monday at St. Mary's Cemetery with a 1 p.m. graveside service.

The Jarocki Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Rice Lake assisted the family.
