Charley Cook, aged 30, popular Post township farmer, was killed by lightning during a storm last week.

Charlie B. Cook was born Oct. 17, 1876, in Post township, Allamakee Co., Iowa, and died May 21, 1908, aged 31 years, 7 months and 4 days. He was married to Miss Estella Hammel on Oct. 25, 1899, who with one son, Lawrence, his parents, 2 brothers and 4 sisters, survive him, all living in or near Postville. The funeral was held from the U.B. church at Bethel on Sunday, May 24th, the large assemblage of mourners could have filled the church several times over. Interment in Minert cemetery.
