Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Chenoweth Funeral HOme for Eli C. Eberling, 71, who died early Thursday in St. Joseph's hospital in Mason City where he was a heart patient. The Rev. Robert Fitzgerald, pastor of St. John Lutheran church officiated. Burial was in Oak Hill cemetery. Casketbearers were John Kellner, jr., Burton Dietz, Wendell Miller, Harry Greene, Adolph Bucherer and Virgil Edson. Eli folowed the carpenter's trade much of his life, and laer worked at the Oliver co. After retirement he conducted an appliance business and was office manager for his son, who is in the electrical business. Survivors include his wife, Elna; two dons, Donald of Nashua and Gerald of Chicago; a daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Houdek of Charles City; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. There also are three sisters, Mrs. Clem Waters of Postville, Mrs. Addie Gahagen of Austin, Mn., and Mrs. Ellen Mobs, Denver, Co., and a brother, Vernie, of St. Ansgar.

Eli C. Eberling, son of Fred C. and Elizabeth Fisher Eberling, was born March 31, 1904, in Clayton county near Postville. He was married to Elna Deike in Waverly in December of 1925. They farmed near Postville until 1931, when they moved to Nashua. This has since been the family home. He was baptized in the Lutheran church in Postville, and was confirmed at the Lutheran church in Postville. He worked for the Nashua Equity Cooperative in Nashua until taking up carpenter work for an insurance company. Following this, he worked at the former Oliver (now White Farm) plant in Charles City until retirement in 1953. At this time, he entered the appliance business in the former Nafus hardware location, retiring from this about two years ago. He was preceded by one brother and two sisters.
