Rites Are Held For Ruby Reed

Ruby Reed, widow of the late Wallace Bailey Reed, a prominent business man in Decorah, for many years, passed away at Postville Community Memorial Hospital on January 26, 1966.

Ruby Mae Lennon was born on a farm in Winneshiek county, Iowa on August 2, 1880, the daughter of Mary Alice and Joseph Lennon, but moved to Decorah at an early age. She received her education in the Decorah Public School, Valders Normal School, and St. Mary's Academy at Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin.

She and Mr. Reed were married on Thanksgiving Day, November 24, 1902, at Decorah. For many years she was a member of the Congregational Church in Decorah and the Fortnightly Club, a church organization there. She was also a member of the Presbyterian Women's Association of Postville.

After caring for her mother for a number of years until she passed away, Mrs. Reed came to Postville to live with her sister and brother-in-law, Dr. and Mrs. R. F. Topliff.

Preceding her in death were her husband and her parents. Surviving are one brother, Bert F. Lennon of Decorah; and one sister, Mrs. Ray Topliff of Postville; one niece and one nephew; and many close cousins and friends.

Services were conducted by the Rev. Walter T. Martin of Maynard on Friday, January 28, at Community Presbyterian Church in Postville with burial in Phelps Cemetery at Decorah.
