Albert Leslie Bublitz

Albert L. Bublitz, 87, of Waukon died Friday, December 14, 2007 at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon following a brief illness. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 19th at 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Waukon, with Rev. Larry Olson officiating. Burial with military graveside rites will be held in Oakland Cemetery, Waukon. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon.

Albert Leslie Bublitz was born January 6, 1920 on the farm of his parents, William John and Lydia Emma (Buege) Bublitz, in French Creek Township in rural Lansing. He attended French Creek #2 rural school and served in the US Army during WWII. Albert worked at Bob Bursett gas station and drove taxi for a short time, before he went to work for Great Plains Supply in Waukon for several years. He married Mary Becker April 20, 1974 in Waukon. From 1975 until his retirement in 1998 he worked at Northern Engraving. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church and a former member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Waukon. Albert enjoyed fishing, cooking, cleaning and spending time with family and friends, especially his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife Mary of Waukon; two daughters, Kim (Dan) Dingbaum of Moorpark, CA and Lori (Scott) Pearce of Bettendorf; five grandchildren, Elizabeth, Heather and Zachary Dingbaum and Carsen and Connor Pearce; and a brother, Dale Bublitz of Mason City. He is preceded in death by his parents, seven brothers, Floyd, Vern, William, Merlin, Allen, Garland and Earl Bublitz and two sisters, Gladys Lang and Ruby Sivesind.

Honorary casketbearers are Dave, Greg and Kevin Bublitz, Bill Evans, Mike and Jason Becker, Gayle Klocke and Jimmy Ingles. Casketbearers are Roger Bublitz, Paul Fox, Kenny Ingles, Tim Becker, Joe Evans, Tom Wright, Dan Dingbaum and Scott Pearce.
