Louella Irene O'Halloran

Louella Irene O'Halloran, age 92, of Elk River, MN and formerly of Zimmerman, MN and Iowa died December 11, 2007 at the Guardian Angels Care Center in Elk River.

Louella was born July 29, 1915 to James and Nella (Hakeman) O'Halloran in Grinnell. She grew up, was educated and lived in Iowa until she was 27 years old when she moved to rural Walnut Grove, MN. Louella married Sherman Kopperud December 23, 1941 at the St. Olaf Lutheran Church in rural Walnut Grove. The couple was blessed with three children. Louella was a homemaker to her husband and children.

In 1966, Louella and her youngest son moved to Iowa, where she held a few different jobs. She worked at a tax preparation office, a home that cared for the elderly, an attorney's office, a Norwegian American museum and she retired in 1982 as a secretary/ bookkeeper for her son's electrical business. In 1991, Louella moved to Zimmerman, MN where she lived until two years ago when she moved to the Guardian Angels Care Center in Elk River, MN.

Louella was a very kind, patient and loving woman. She was proud of her family and enjoyed spending time with all of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed drawing, oil painting, playing cards, playing her harmonica and tending to her flower gardens. Louella was great at playing Bible trivia as she truly enjoyed reading and learning the Bible. Louella was a member of Union Congregational UCC in Elk River, MN since 1992.

Louella was preceded in death by her three sisters, two brothers and her former husband.

Louella is survived by her daughter, Darla (Allen) Yotter of Hector, MN; sons: Don (Jody Milby) of Carver, MN and Jim (Deb) of Zimmerman, MN; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Louella is also survived by her nieces, nephews and many other loving relatives and friends.

Louella's family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the Guardian Angels Care Center and to the Fairview Hospice program for their wonderful care of Louella.

Funeral Service were at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 15, 2007 at the Union Congregational UCC in Elk River. Rev. Dana Mann officiated.

Interment was at 1 p.m. Monday, December 17, 2007 at the St. Olaf Lutheran Cemetery in rural Walnut Grove, MN. Rev. Kerry Selseth officiated.

Casket Bearers: Louella's beloved grandchildren: Dawn Baldus, Dennis Yotter, Brian Sanger, Anna Kopperud, Dan Kopperud, Bob Kopperud, Erik Kopperud and Kelly Kopperud.

Arrangements by Williams-Hanson-Kaun Funeral Home of Princeton, MN.
