Alvin Schultz

Alvin 'Al' H. Schultz age 92 of Lansing died Friday, December 14, 2007 at his home in Lansing. Funeral Services were held at 2 p.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church in Lansing with Pastor Steve Hubbell officiating. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery in Lansing.

Al was born in Waukon February 11, 1915 to Edwin and Caroline (Welper) Schultz.

He married Enid Peters September 10, 1937 in Waukon, she preceded him in death April 14, 1984, he later married Elsie Pickett who also preceded him in death. He began his career in Lansing as a bookkeeper with the Lansing Garage. He went on to become a partner in the business. They later expanded to Waukon with the consolidation of the John Deere Dealerships in Allamakee County. He worked full time at the Waukon location until the early 1990s.

He enjoyed spending time with his children, grand children and great grandchildren. He also enjoyed playing cards, his houseboat, traveling in his motor home and volunteering at Gunderson Lutheran Hospital and Thornton Manor.

He is survived by five daughters, Karen (Ken) Leppert of Lansing, Corrine Burke of Kasson, MN, Diane (Carl) Clancy of Lansing, Kay (Bob) Troendle of Lansing, Gwen (Jim) Loveless of Genoa, WI; 15 grandchildren; 39 great grandchildren; and his brother, Richard (Ruth) Schultz of Lansing.

His grandsons were casketbears: Kyle Leppert, Kraig Leppert, John Burke, Sean Clancy, Rick Troendle and Chad Kuhnke.
