Rites Held For Dayton Goddard

Dayton Eugene Goddard, son of Emory and Velma Hawley Goddard, was born April 21, 1914 at Rose Hill, Iowa. He died at the Community Memorial Hospital in Postville on Friday, July 5, 1963, at the age of 49 years.

Dayton Goddard was graduated from the Oskaloosa High School in 1932.

On March 5, 1938 Dayton Goddard was married to Mildred Warnock in Des Moines, Iowa. To this union two daughters, were born, Susanne and Geraldine.

Dayton lived in Postville for the past 12 years during which time he worked for the American Breeder Service for ten years and was custodian at the high school for two years.

He is survived by his wife, Mildred Goddard, of Postville; two daughters, Susanne Goddard of Seattle, Washington and Mrs. Fred Brandt of Postville; stepfather and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Worth Fulton of Montezuma, Iowa; one sister, Mrs. Retha Wilcox of Shreveport, Louisiana; a stepbrother, Robert Fulton of Montezuma, Iowa; two grandsons, Jeffrey and Matthew Brandt.

Dayton Goddard was preceded in death by his father who passed away in 1934 and by a brother Herschel who died in 1942.

He was a member of the Masonic lodge, the I. O. O. F. lodge and the Eastern Star.

Dayton Goddard was baptized in the Christian Church at Oskaloosa. He united with the Community Presbyterian Church on January 6, 1952.

Funeral services were held in the Community Presbyterian Church Sunday at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Walter T. Martin in charge of the services. Ray Douglass conducted Masonic services. Burial was in the Postville cemetery.
