GLADYS KRUSE

Gladys Kruse, 94, formerly of Eitzen, MN, died Thurs., Aug. 10, 2000, at Tweeten Health Services, Spring Grove, MN. Services were held Aug. 14 at St. Luke's United Church of Christ, Eitzen, under the direction of Rev. Paul Burgess. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Gladys L. Kruse was born April 29, 1906, in Dorchester, to August and Anna (Weber) Dresselhaus. She was baptized and confirmed from St. John's Methodist Church in Dorchester. She attended rural schools in Union City township.

On June 12, 1929, she married John Kruse at St. Luke's United Church of Christ in Eitzen. Together they farmed in Waterloo township until 1962, when John preceded Gladys in death. In 1966, Gladys moved into Eitzen, where she lived until 1994, when she became a resident at the health care center in Spring Grove.

Gladys was a longtime member of St. Luke's UCC in Eitzen, serving on the Women's Fellowship and acting as custodian for several years. She enjoyed flowers and gardening as well as crocheting, of which she made several doilies and rugs for herself and others.

Survivors include a daughter, Beverly Meyer, Eitzen; a son, Norbert (Kathy) Kruse of Dorchester; two daughters-in-law, Belva Kruse and Margaret Kruse, both of Eitzen; 18 grandchildren; and 33 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, Gladys was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Donald and Delton; a great-grandchild in infancy; two sisters, Mae Nierling and one in infancy; and a son-in-law, Irvin Meyer.

The Haugen-Roble-Jandt Funeral Home, Caledonia, MN, handled the arrangements.
