Carol Reeder

Carol Reeder, 73, of Waukon, died Monday, September 30, 1996 at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon.

Funeral services were held Thursday, October 3, at 11:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Larry Olson officiating. Burial was at Oakland Cemetery. Martin Funeral Home handled arrangements. Casket bearers were Brian, Brad, Tom, Cori, Dena, Kristy, Michael and Carly Krambeer; Josh, Jill, Jason and Jayme Baumgartner; Jodi Ihde and Cody Sylvester. American Legion Auxiliary and V. F. W. Auxiliary Memorial services were held October 2 during visitation at Martin's.

Carol (Gilson) Reeder was born May 9, 1923, on her parent's farm in Franklin Township of Allamakee county, the daughter of Orrie and Mary (Amundson) Gilson. She attended the rural Forest Mills School and was a graduate of Waukon High School.

Carol was married to Burnell Krambeer October 27, 1944, in Garnavillo. He died in 1953. She was married to her second husband, Dale Reeder, in Monona, June 25, 1955. He died in 1992.

For 30 years, Carol worked as a med-aide at the Waukon Good Samaritan Center. She enjoyed playing cards and bingo, and going dancing. She liked working around the house, baking and cleaning, as well as shopping and going to garage sales. For the past few years, Carol had been at the Good Samaritan Center, where she still helped with things.

Carol was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and its ladies organizations; the Waukon V. F. W. Auxiliary; and the Town and Country Card Club. She was a 30-year member of the Waukon American Legion Auxiliary.

Survivors include three sons, Dean and Linda Krambeer of Pine Island, MN, Ken and Gloria Krambeer of Waukon, and Brad and Bev Krambeer of Waukon, two daughters, Janet and John Baumgartner of Waukon and Kim Sylvester of Waukon; a brother, Lawrence and Irene Gilson of Eitzen, MN; four sisters, Myrtle Drahn of Waukon, Norma and Vance Rosell of Decorah, Dorothy and Norman Aldridge of Decorah, and Delores and Robert Steiner of McHenry, IL; 17 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Carol Reeder was preceded in death by her parents; her two husbands; a daughter Lane Anderson; and brothers Dale and John Gilson.

Carol N. (Gilson) Krambeer-Reeder, 73, died Monday, Sept. 30, 1996, in Veterans Memorial Hospital after a sudden illness.

Services: 11 a.m. Thursday, First Presbyterian Church, by the Rev. Larry Olson. Burial: Oakland Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Martin Funeral Home, Waukon, where there will be military memorial services at 4:30 and 6:30 p.m.

Survivors include three sons, Dean Krambeer of Pine Island, Minn., and Ken and Brad Krambeer, both of Waukon; two daughters, Janet Baumgartner and Kim Sylvester, both of Waukon; a brother, Lawrence Gilson of Eitzen, Minn.; and four sisters, Myrtle Drahn of Waukon, Norma Rosell and Dorothy Aldrich, both of Decorah, and Delores Steiner of McHenry, Ill.

Daughter's name is Lana Anderson (not Lane). Lana was Mrs. Warren (Lana J. Krambeer) Anderson 1948-1991. Her obit is also posted on the obituary board for Allamakee County.
