Caroline Koth

Caroline Koth, 90, of Kansas City, Mo, formerly of Waukon, IA, died Wednesday, November 14, 2007 at Carondelet Manor in Kansas City. Memorial services will be held Tuesday, November 20th at 11:00 a.m. at Zalmona Presbyterian Church in rural Waukon, with Pastor Tom Buresh officiating. Inurnment will be in Postville Cemetery, Postville, IA. Friends may greet the family immediately following the services at the church.

Caroline Anna Koth was born on May 2, 1917 in Ludlow township, Allamakee county, Iowa. She was the daughter of Arthur and Emma (Snitker) Schmidt. Caroline was baptized and confirmed at Zalmona Presbyterian Church in Ludlow Township and attended Emment rural school, and Waukon High School. Following high school Caroline worked in West Bend, WI and Cedar Rapids, IA before returning to rural Waukon.

On October 19, 1952 she married Harold Koth at Zalmona Presbyterian Church. Following their marriage the couple moved to Postville where Caroline became a homemaker and mother. In 1999 Caroline moved back to Waukon where she lived until moving to Kansas City, Mo in November of 2006.

While living in rural Postville, Caroline was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and its ladies groups. She enjoyed traveling, baking, reading, playing cards, and being outdoors. Caroline liked raising house plants as well as outdoor flowers and gardening. While living in Kansas City, "Grandma Caroline" brought much joy to the hearts of her grandchildren, making a lasting impression on them.

Survivors include 2 children, Charles (Jane) Koth and Sharon Koth, both of Kansas City, Mo; 10 grandchildren, J. Courtnery Kilen, Liesl A. Arteaga, Brittany, Zachary, Rico, Pj, Nicholas, Chloe, Rileyjane and Bella; 4 great-grandchildren; a brother, Henry (Joy) Schmidt of Waukon; and 4 sisters, Norma Henning and Jean (Keith) Hastings, both of Waukon, Clara (Robert) Heaton of Greenville, SC, and Dorothy (Robert) Thompson of Cedar Rapids, IA.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Harold, who died in 1998; and a grandson, Jon C. Koth.
