Thomas Francis Hogan

Thomas Francis Hogan, longtime Postville, Iowa, resident, entered God's Kingdom on Sunday, November 4, 2007, at the Good Samaritan Center, Postville, Iowa, due to complications from Lewy Bodies Disease.

Tom was born on June 24, 1933, in Gettysburg, SD, to Frank and Marie (Fitzgerald) Hogan. In 1936, the Hogan's moved from South Dakota and settled near Harpers Ferry, Iowa.

He attended country schools and then went to Postville High School, graduating in 1952. Tom farmed with his older brother, Terry, and his dad, Frank, before enlisting in the U.S. Army in 1954. He returned to Iowa in 1956.

Tom was united in marriage to Angela Auer, on February 9, 1957, at St. Bridget's Catholic Church, Postville, Iowa. They are the proud parents of five children, Tim, William, Julie, Patricia and Tom.

Tom and Angie farmed east of Monona and then moved north of Postville in 1963. Besides farming, Tom managed the State of Iowa Liquor Store in Postville for twenty years. Tom worked for Norplex-Oak in Postville before retiring in 1998. Tom and his family are members of St. Bridget's Catholic Church in Postville.

He is survived by his wife, Angie, Postville; one brother, Terry Hogan, Postville; two sisters, Margaret Kester and Madonna Bielser, Davenport; two daughters, Julie (Todd) Huddleson, Hutto, TX, and Patricia Meyer, Decorah; two sons, Tim (Joan) Hogan, Allen TX, and Tom Hogan, Dubuque and seven grandchildren, Lauren, Carlee, Lindsey, Jessica, Jamie, Patrick and Adria.

Tom was preceded in death by his son, William; his parents, Frank and Marie; one brother, George, and one sister, Geraldine.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, November 8, 2007, at 10:30 am at St. Bridget's Catholic Church, Postville. The Rev. Daniel Keppler will officiate.

Inurnment will follow in St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery, Monona, with military rites.

Leonard Funeral Home and Crematory of Monona, Iowa, is in charge of arrangements.
