Leo Thornton

Leo Merwyn Thornton, son of Vern Gordon and Blanche Elizabeth (Rush) Thornton, was born August 30, 1928 in Allamakee County, Iowa. He received his education at Waukon. Leo was owner/operator of C & L Trucking for 49 years. His truck was his hobby.

Leo died Sunday, October 13, 1996 at the Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospital, Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin. He was 68.

Preceding him in death were his parents.

Survivors include his companion, Doris Sickels of Monona, one son, Ronald (Butch) Thornton and his wife, Connie, of Monona; one daughter, Peggy A. Berg and her fiance, Russ Dahlstrom, of Waukon, six grandchildren, Lonnie L. Thornton and his wife Paula, Jonnie V. Thornton, Timothy R. Thornton, Toby L Thornton, Benji D. Berg and Jami A. Berg; two great grandson, Kelby Thornton and Jacob Thornton; two brothers, Lloyd M. Thornton and Curtis D. Thornton, both of Postville; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Thursday, October 17 at Schultz's Funeral Home in Monona. The Rev. Terry Hudson officiated with burial in the Postville Cemetery.
