William Broderick, 71, of Lansing, died Monday, November 4, 2002, at Veteran's Memorial Hospital following a lengthy illness. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, November 6, at 11:00 a.m. at Old East Paint Creek Lutheran Church in Waterville. Arrangements are by the Cremation Society of Eastern Iowa. William Edward Broderick was born June 19, 1931, in Calmar, the beloved son of James Leo and Mary Phillips Broderick. He attended De Sales and Ossian Public Schools and Linotype School in Charles City. He married Alice Torresdal on September 9, 1957, at the United Lutheran Church in Oak Park, Ill. He worked at Vyerberg Implement in Ossian for four years, C.C. Cornell Mink Farm in Ossian for ten years, and at Anundsen Publishing in Decorah for 15 years. William was a leader for Boy Scouts of American in Ossian and Decorah for six years, was president of Lansing Senior Citizens for two years, president of the Mississippi Valley Sportsman Club for one year, and was a member of Old East Paint Creek Lutheran Church. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. William enjoyed hunting, fishing, and woodworking. Surviving, in addition to his wife, Alice, are his daughter, Tamera (David) Jahnke of Springfield, Mo.; two sons, Timothy (Susie) Broderick of Decorah and Terry (Pam) Broderick of Mason City; and eight grandchildren.
