AMBROSE McKINLEY WATERS

Ambrose McKinley Waters son of Robert Burton and Mary Ann (McKinley) Waters, was born Jan. 11, 1907 in Grand Meadow Township, Clayton County, near Postville, Iowa. He passed away Saturday morning, Sept. 15, 1990 in Veterans Memorial hospital at Waukon, Iowa.

He attended the Grand Meadow School. On June 4, 1930 he was married to Hazel Lorraine Kneeskern at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Clermont, Iowa. They had 2 children. The couple lived in Grand Meadow Township where they farmed for 51 years. In 1981 they moved to their present home in Postville. Ambrose had also been employed as a carpenter.

He is preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, Leonard and Louis and 2 sisters, Helen Kneeland and Marie Leui.

Surviving are his wife, Hazel, 2 sons, Edward J. Waters of Overland Park, KS, and Richard A. Waters of Raleigh, NC, 7 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and 4 brothers, Bernard, of Waukon; Bertie and Paul, both of Postville and Clem of Decorah.

He was a member of St. Bridget Catholic church in Postville.

Funeral mass was held Tuesday, Sept. 18, 1990 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Bridget Catholic Church, Postville with Rev. Paul Otting officiating. Interment was in the Postville Cemetery.

Casket bearers: Jim Farmer, Donald Kugel, George Wander, R. F. Schneider, Terry Hogan, Harry Landt, Keith Carlson, Joe McNeil.
