Thomas Zeimet

Thomas R. Zeimet, age 84, of New Albin died Friday, June 1, 2007 at Franciscan Skemp Healthcare in LaCrosse, WI. A Mass of Christian Burial was held Tuesday, June 5 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in New Albin, with Fr. Knipper officiating. Burial was in St. Joseph Cemetery in New Albin, where military rites were accorded. The Thornburg Hanson Funeral Home in Lansing assisted the family.

Thomas was born in Lansing November 11, 1922 to John and Leonette (Althoff) Zeimet. He married Goldie Thimmesch December 29, 1949 at St. Joseph's in New Albin. Thomas served in the U.S. Navy from 1942 to 1967. He worked in maintenance for the Sacramento Municipal Utility District at Rancho Seco Nuclear Power Plant in California from 1971 to 1982.

Thomas was a 3rd degree member of the Waukon Council #1570 of the Knights of Columbus, a 4th degree member of the Ossian Davis Assembly of the Knights of Columbus, and was also a member of he VFW. He held various positions in both organizations. During retirement he enjoyed working on his acreage.

Thomas is survived by Goldie, his wife of 57 years; three children, Bonnie Zeimet, Michael Zeimet, and Patricia (George) Coots, all of New Albin; five grandchildren, Patti Ann, Patrick, James, Thomas and Melissa; three great-grandchildren; five siblings, Clem (Darlene) Zeimet of Lansing, Jim (Jean) Zeimet of Austin, MN, Adrian (Nancy) Zeimet of Lake of the Ozarks, MO, Mary McCarthy of Dubuque, and Regina Collins of Rockford, IL; and his mother-in-law, Helen Thimmesch of New Albin.

Thomas was preceded in death by a daughter, Leonette Zeimet-Kraft; a grandson, Charles Baker; two siblings, Barney Zeimet and Bernadette Weber; a son-in-law, Duane Kumpf; and his father-in-law, Henry Thimmesch.

Casketbearers were Jim Zeimet, Patrick Zeimet, Larry Knight, Jimmie Zeimet, Thomas Zeimet and Don Morris.
