Leonard Hanson

Leonard Lee Hanson, 42, of rural Waukon died Tuesday, April 10, 2007 at his home. Memorial services were held Friday, April 13 at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon, with Dan Potter officiating.

Leonard Lee Hanson was born June 11, 1964 in Cumberland, WI, the son of Gordon and Betty (Voight) Hanson. He grew up in northwest Wisconsin, attending schools in Cumberland and Turtle Lake. Following a short time in the U.S. Navy, he moved to Barron, WI, where May 16, 1987 he married Lynn Kroll. They lived in Alabama for a time, where Leonard trained as a plumber and electrician. In 1991 they moved back to Wisconsin and since 1996 they have lived in northeast Iowa, where Leonard most recently worked for Art's Way Scientific in Monona.

Leonard always liked staying active. Rock climbing, hiking, and working in the yard kept him busy outdoors. He maintained a shop at his house where he did woodworking and home improvement projects. He was also an avid reader.

Survivors include his wife Lynn of Waukon; three children, Julian Lee Kroll Hanson of Orlando, FL, and Amanda Marie Hanson and Jonathan Gabriel Hanson, both of Waukon; a grandson, Zane Joseph Leonard Hanson; and five siblings, Barb, Gordon "Bud", and Wayne, all of Wisconsin, William of Alabama, and Debbie of Colorado. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother John, and a sister Sue.
