Mary White

Mary Ella (Pearson) White, daughter of Chester A. and Eula Lee (Jones) Pearson, was born February 20, 1926 at Postville, Iowa. She died Monday, July 3, 1995 in Lutheran Hospital at LaCrosse, Wisconsin. She was 69 years old.

She attended the country school near her home and graduated from Postville High School in 1943.

On February 20, 1945, she was married to Donald William "Barney" White in the Little Brown Church at Nashus, Iowa. To this union five children were born.

The couple farmed with Barney's parents on the family farm near Osterdock, Iowa, for about a year. They then moved to their farm northeast of Postville in Post Township, Allamakee County, where they had lived all of their lives. Shortly after their marriage, Mary's mother suffered a stroke and came to live with them so that Mary could take care of her along with their family. After Barney's death, Mary moved to Postville. She had been employed as a Nurse's Aide at the Good Samaritan Center in Postville and then at the hospital until it closed. Mary loved her children and grandchildren and spent a great deal of time in the kitchen preparing memorable meals and treats for them when they would stop in to visit her. Mary was a fifty year member of the Community Presbyterian Church in Postville and a member of the Esther Circle.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, who died in 1989, and a sister, Hilda Bruns.

Surviving are her children, Cindy and her husband, Mel Einck and Barbara Kruse, all of Postville; Don Bradley White and his wife, Peggy, of Waukon; Kim White and his wife, Denice, of Sheffield, and Lori and her husband, Jim Wyatt, of Eden Prairie, Minn.; fifteen grandchildren: Daniel, Michael and Kris Einck; Brandy, Mimi and Hollie Goltz; Jessica Kruse; Amy and Brian White; Kerry, Heather and Kimberly White; Dennis and Lucas Millage and Lindsay Wyatt; three great grandchildren: Tiffany Anderson Einck, Marcus White and Ashlee Einck; a sister, Frances Foster of Burlington, Iowa; two sisters-in-law, Lorraine Freeman of Palatka, Fla., Phyliss (White) Roepke of Osterdock, Iowa and many nieces and nephew.

Funeral services were held Thursday, July 6, 1995 at the Community Presbyterian Church in Postville. The Reverend Gary Catterson officiated, with the message given by the Reverend Dick F. Harberts. Special music was provided by Clark Goltz, accompanied by Beverly Bacon, organist. Casketbearers were her grandchildren, Daniel Einck, Amy White, Michael Einck, Brian White, Kris Einck, Lindsay Wyatt, Brandy Goltz, Kerry White, Mimi Goltz, Heather White, Hollie Goltz, Kimberly White, Jessica Kruse, Dennis Millage and Lucas Millage. The Schutte Funeral Service of Postville was in charge of arrangements. Interment was in the Grand Meadow Cemetery, rural Luana, Iowa.
