Donald White

Services for Donald "Barney" White who died Dec. 2 at the University Hospital and Clinic at Iowa City were held Dec. 5 at the Community Presbyterian Church in Postville with burial at the Grand Meadow Cemetery, rural Luana. Rev. Terrance Hennesy, assisted by Pastor Verdon Swenson, conducted the services. Pallbearers were: Allan "Bud" Bacon, John Rothmeyer, Robert Gruhn, Robert Heckmann, David Miller, Bertie Waters, Roger Harris and John Schlee.

He was born January 20, 1919 to Walter and Amy (Moser) White in Osterdock. He attended the rural school at Osterdock and Guttenberg High School. He married Mary Pearson on Feb. 20, 1945 at the Little Brown Church at Nashua. They had five children. They farmed near Osterdock for about a year. They then moved to their present farm in Allamakee County, where they had lived all of their lives. He was a member of the Community Presbyterian Church in Postville.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; 2 sons, D. Bradley, Waukon and Kim, Postville; 3 daughters: Cindy Einck and Barbara Kruse, Postville and Lori Wyatt, Eden Prairie, MN; 15 grandchildren; 1 great-granddaughter and a sister, Mrs. Neal (Lorraine) Freeman, East Palatka, FL.

He is preceded in death by a brother who died in infancy and a brother, Robert and a sister, Thelma Boring.
