Rudolph "Rudy" George Ranzenberger, 94, of Caledonia, Minn., died Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2004, at Caledonia Care and Rehab.

He was born Oct. 11, 1910 in Dorchester, Iowa, Allamakee County, to Lewis and Mathilda (Meyer) Ranzenberger.

On April 2, 1937 he married Selma Jorgena Olson in Houston, Minn. Rudy and Selma farmed in Caledonia township until 1976 when they moved into Caledonia. Rudy then painted and finished houses for 15 years. His prize job was refinishing the church pews at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Caledonia. Rudy loved helping his children, grandchildren, friends, neighbors and church. On Sept. 30, 2002, Selma preceded Rudy in death.

Survivors include their two children, Dawn (Jeff) Felten of Caledonia and Wayne (special friend, Kay) Ranzenberger of Sheboygan seven grandchildren, Todd Peterson of Ft. Meyers, Fla., Tracy (DeeAnn) Peterson of Hesper, Iowa, Heather (Karl) Haines of Waukesha, Heidi (Dennis) Westfall of Milwaukee, Jessica (Andy) Foster of Sioux Falls, S.D., Phillip (special friend, Maria) Felten of Caledonia, and Tony Felten of Caledonia nine great-grandchildren and one sister, Irma Diersen of Caledonia.

In addition to his wife, Rudy was preceded in death by his parents his daughter, Marilyn four sisters and three brothers.

Funeral services will be Monday, Oct. 25, 2004 at 11 a.m. from St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 650 N. Kingston St., Caledonia with the Rev. Jon Wolff officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Haugen-Roble-Jandt Funeral Home, 518 W. Main St., Caledonia, on Sunday, Oct. 24, from 4 to 7 p.m. and at the church on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
