Memorial services for , 64, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Moreno Valley Mortuary. He died Sept. 9 of cancer at Reche Canyon Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Colton.

Inurnment will be private.

Mr. Koontz, who was born in Allamakee County, Iowa, lived in Moreno Valley 20 years. He was an engineer at Superior Golf Course Construction Inc., in Norco for four years.

He received his degree in mechanical engineering from Gonzaga University in Spokane, Wash., in 1958. He graduated, as salutatorian, from Belt Valley High School in Belt, Mont., in 1953.

Mr. Koontz is survived by his wife, Virginia; a daughter, Eileen Dolphay of Great Falls, Mont.; a son, Karl of Great Falls; two grandchildren; a sister, Jacqueline Goodwin-Pugh of Huntington Beach; a son, James of Great Falls; and many nieces and nephews.
