Conduct Rites For A. Lawson

Funeral services for Augusta Lawson, 89, who died April 24, 1980 at Thornton Manor in Lansing, were held Saturday, April 26 at 1:30 p.m. at the Schutte Funeral Home in Postville. The Rev. Curtis Webster and the Rev. Dennis E. Morey officiated. Interment was in the Postville Cemetery.

Augusta [Irene] Lawson was born July 25, 1890 in Post Township, Allamakee County, the daughter of John and Carolyn (Harris) Hammel. She received her education at the West Grove School in Post Township. March 26, 1914, she was married to Sherman Lawson at the home of her parents. They farmed for many years south of Postville and moved into town in 1940 where Sherman worked as a carpenter. She was a member of Community Presbyterian Church in Postville.

She was preceded in death by her husband; daughter, Delila; four brothers: Ralph, Charlie, Earl and Leonard; and four sisters: Stella (Mrs. Charlie Cook), Vernie (Mrs. Andrew Stockman), Ruby (Mrs. Frank Lawson) and Bertha (Mrs. Lee Folsom).

Surviving are [a] daughter, Lois Lawson of Lansing; and two sisters: Pearl McDonald of San Diego, California and Ruth Webster of Postville.
