Earl Renne, Harpers Ferry, killed when frame of dump truck breaks.

Earl Renne, 32 years of age and the father of four children, was the victim Monday of a most unusual accident. The Harpers Ferry man, a truck driver, was killed instantly when the dump end of the truck broke loose from the truck section and dumped the load of sand onto the driver. The frame of the truck had been broken before and welded. Renne had a load of sand and was driving from Harpers Ferry south, employed on the Harpers Ferry-Waukon Junction gravelling project, when the frame broke, the front end of the dump section dropped to the ground and the momentum causing that section to somersault onto the driver. He was pinned against the steering wheel and his chest was crushed. Members of the crew of a passing freight train saw Renne's hand protruding from the sand of the wreckage and notified the station agent at Waukon Junction and the coroner and other officials were called.

Earl Renne was born May 10, 1904 in Jefferson twp. the son of Charles A. Renne and Laura Dundee, his youthful days were spent in Dubuque where he attended school. On June 24, 1924 he was united in marriage to Miss Mary Vickery of Post twp. He is survived by his parents, his wife, and children, Dorothy, Donna Mae, Phyliss Rita and Earl Jr. also a brother Melvin C. Renne of Dubuque. Funeral services were held at 2:30 from the Renne home in Harpers Ferry, with burial in Oakland cemetery. Earl Renne died Oct. 26 1936
