Accident Victims

Triple funeral services for Mr. and Mrs. Max R. Williams and their two year old daughter, Lisa, were held Thursday, July 7, at 1:30 from Knox Chapel in Rock Island, Illinois. Rev. C. George Engdahl officiated. Burial was at Memorial Park in Rock Island.

The trio lost their lives in a two car collision in which eight persons were killed and two critically injured on highway 6, 15 miles west of Iowa City near Oxford, Sunday night, July 3, at 7:30. Randy Lee Williams, 8, received fractures of both legs and is a patient at University Hospital, Iowa City. His condition is fair.

Mrs. William (Vivian Moen), 28, is a sister of Mrs. Harlan Sebastian of Postville. She was born at Waukon, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Moen of that city. She graduated from the Waukon high school, was a nurses aid at Lutheran Hospital at La Crosse, then joined the Nurses Cadet Corps and worked for a time at University Hospital at Iowa City before going to Moline nine years ago. She was married to Max R. Williams of Grinnell at that time and they operated Mike's Grill there.

Besides her son, Randy Lee, she is survived by her parents, five sisters and three brothers: Thelma (Mrs. Leonard Larson); Erma, (Mrs. Lyle Williams); Rudolph of Waukon, Bernice (Mrs. Harlan Sebastian) of Postville; Charlotte (Mrs. Harvey Standorf) of Giard; Arla (Mrs. Paul Coons) of Cincinnati, Ohio; and Amos and Ralph Moen of Rock Island.

Besides the family, relatives and friends attending the funeral from this vicinity were: Mrs. Lydia Sebastian, Mr. and Mrs. Sheldon Hall, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Meyer, Mr. and Mrs. Milo Meyer of Postville; Mr. and Mrs. Austin Moen, Mr. and Mrs. Emmett Johnson, Mrs. Russell Enyart of Waukon; Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Moen, Mrs. Robert Sebastian, Mrs. Lester Sampson and Mrs. Jeannette Johnson of Decorah.

Postville Herald newspaper clipping, hand dated July 1955, from my mother's obituary collection. Submitter has no further information.
