2 KILLED BY TRAIN

Luana: Two men were killed here Monday where the Sioux Railroad tracks cross the Clayton County Road next to the creamery.

Killed were Dean Dennis Willis, 27, of Monona, and William Shaw, 30, of Bangor, WI.

The car in which they were riding was going north when it was struck on the passenger side by a train going west. It dragged the car 500 feet before it was able to stop.

The driver of the car was Duane Gray, 27, of near St. Olaf. He was taken to Community Memorial Hospital, Postville, where he was reported in stable condition the following day.

The Iowa Highway patrol was investigating the accident Monday but had no report as to its cause. No charges had been filed.

The engineer of the train, Joseph Charles Spinoso of Dubuque, was not injured.
