Obituary-- Andrew Sandry.

Andrew Theodore Sandry died April 30th, 1913. Deceased was born September 22, 1829, in Bevers Kanton, Grauburedten, Switzerland. He came to America April 27, 1849, arriving in New Orleans.

He married Elizabeth Hirth on April 12, 1852, in Dubuque, Iowa, and came to Lansing, settling on a farm where they resided ever since. Their union was blessed by ten children, five boys and five girls, two of whom preceded him in death. Anton Leonhard died January, 1897, and Ludwig Fridolin died December 29, 1912. He is survived by his wife, five daughters;-Elizabeth at home; Mrs. H. Martin, Waukon; Mrs. H.F. Hartfeil, Minneapolis; Mrs. E.F. Klein and Mrs. U.G. White, Chicago; three sons, John P., Dubuque; Theodore B., at home; Wm. C., Minneapolis; and eight grandchildren, Martha Margretta Martin, Clarence Raymon Sandry, Juan Willard and Henry Wayne Martin, Hermina Elsa Hartfeil, Evalyn Leonhardtena and Ernst Sandry Klein,and Katharine Geraldine Sandry.

Mr. Sandry, like all true descendants of Wm. Tell
has been a lifelong democrat, and a man who has always taken great pride in national, state, county and town matters and never missed an opportunity of aiding in the material development and growth of either. He served this county in the state legislature in 1872 and in the adjourned session of the Fourteenth General Assembly in 1873, was his party's candidate for county treasurer in 1879, was a member of the Board of Supervisors for three years, for twenty-five years President of the German Farmer's Insurance Company and was its Secretary and Treasurer for four years, besides holding various township offices, such as Trustee, Assessor, etc.

The funeral occurred Sunday, May 4, at 2 p.m., Rev. Kegel officiating and burial in Mays Prairie cemetery. The pall bearers were John P., Wm.C., Clarence Sandry, U.G. White, E.F. Klein and H. Martin.

All of the children with their wives and husbands were present with the exception of Theodore, who is in the sanitarium at Prairie du Chien, and H. Hartfeil, who is at the sanitarium at Shakopee and Wayne Martin, circumstances not permitting him to be present. Mr. Bernhardt Hirth, a brother of Mrs. Sandry was also present.

We desire to publicly return thanks to the neighbors and friends for the many kindnesses shown us during the illness, death and burial of our beloved husband amd father. Especially are we deeply grateful to those friends who braved the elements to attend the funeral Sunday.
