November 23, 1928 - February 15, 2007

Robert E. Reisner, 78, of Waukon, IA, died Thursday, February 15, 2007 at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon. Funeral services will be held Monday, February 19th at 10:30 am at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Waukon, with Fr. Joseph Schneider officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Catholic Cemetery, Ft. Atkinson, IA. Friends may call from 3:00 to 6:00 pm Sunday at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon, where there will be a 3:00 pm scripture service. Military Rites will be conducted by local veterans.

Robert Edward Reisner was born on November 23, 1928 in Ft. Atkinson, IA, the son of Waldo F. and Ida (Doubek) Reisner. He attended St. John's Catholic Elementary School and graduated from Ft. Atkinson High School in 1946.

On December 26, 1950 he married Margaret Ann Becker at St. Aloysius Church in Calmar, IA. Bob served in the US Army during the Korean War from 1951 until 1953. He was attached to an artillery unit and spent much of his duty at Ft. Sill, OK. Robert spent his working life in the lumber business. He was the manager of Frudden Lumber Co. in Dubuque from 1947-1962. He then began work with Great Plains Supply Co., serving first as yard manager in Waukon and then as district manager. In 1983 he was appointed Director of Operations and moved to St. Paul, MN. He retired from Great Plains in 1986 and he and Marge moved to Davenport, IA where he worked for Seiffert Lumber Co. until he took full retirement in 1990. They returned to Waukon in 1992.

While living in Waukon, Robert was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and American Legion Post No. 62. He served two terms on the Waukon City Council, was President of the Chamber of Commerce and a board member of the Waukon Golf and Country Club for two different terms. Bob loved the outdoors -- gardening, fishing, hunting and playing golf. Looking for walnuts and hickory nuts was a great pastime in the fall. He also enjoyed visiting with his many friends and loved an exciting game of euchre.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret "Marge" of Waukon; 3 children, David (Deanna) Reisner of White Bear Lake, MN, Susan (Steven) Armbrecht of Sioux City, IA and Michael (Lisa) Reisner of Charlotte, NC; 3 grandchildren, Claira Marie, Johnna Quinn and Elijah Michael Riesner; a sister, Madonna Mickelson of Madelia, MN; and 2 nieces and a nephew and their families. He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Dwayne Reisner.

Honorary casketbearers are Robert J. Anderson, Charles Bakke, Walter Larson, LeRoy McCabe, Jack Marsden, Oliver Roderick and Herman Willger. Casketbearers are Gordon Von Groven, Randy Murphy, Frank Goltz, Richard Hansmeier, Dan Straate and Steve Rubendall.
